VOCs (solvent fumes and vapors) are classified as "pre-curser" compounds. These compounds react in the presence of ultraviolet light found in sunlight to produce smog and are therefore their release into the environment is strictly controlled by the EPA as well as local air districts. There are several methods used to abate VOC emissions and they are usually expensive. It is not uncommon for installed abatement equipment to exceed $100 for each cubic foot per minute of air that needs to be treated. Every effort should be made to reduce emissions and abate only when necessary.

There are many instances where the wrong technology was chosen for abatement needs and the result is usually a very high cost of ownership and even worse, the wrong technology may fail to meet abatement requirements. It is often valuable for ATSI to work in partnership with a client to help minimize emissions and possibly avoid the need to abate at all. If abatement is necessary, ATSI can evaluate a clients needs using our training and experience to prevent the client from choosing the wrong technology. In addition, we can calculate the cost of ownership, often for more than one technology and advise the client as to the pros and cons of each. When requested, ATSI can provide turn-key solutions to the client.
